Filming
Pre filming :
For our first sessions once we got into our groups we gathered around a table and brainstormed all our ideas mainly ideal genres, themes and a general overview of a plot. We all agreed on the film opening being a horror and in particular a 'slasher' out of preference and interest. From this point we began developing the plot further and put the details onto storyboards. We created a power point and a mood board to pitch our idea to our teacher for approval and began organising filming times, location and actors ready for when we wanted to film which was ideally the following due to the timescale and the weather was predicting a clear sunny day which was essential for our concept. We had to fill out the shooting scripts and arrange transport to get to our first location of filming which was at a field to film the conversation scene between the four protagonists.
Filming:
Our first filming session took place on a field about 5 minutes from our school, we arranged for the school minibus to take us there and then collect us 2 hours later to take us back to school. We went to film during our double media lesson and continued to film during our media lessons so we were still able to attend our other timetable lessons. Here we got all the shots for the conversation between the four protagonists and the tracking shot from the sun.
The tracking shot of the sun took a lot of takes a we had to adjust to using the tripod but also because sometimes the clouds would get in the way of the shot. We shot the whole conversation scene first as a long shot and then individually we did the close ups and mid shots because it was more practical and made it easier when ordering the footage when we were ready to edit on iMovie.
We went out to film again the following week. We had to re shoot some of the close ups because the angles hadn't matched the previous shots and to film the panning shot onto the shadow. We went through the same preparation as previously.
To film the last shots in alley were relatively easy to do in terms of transport and organising because it was on the same road as our school, so we could just walk there. However by this point in filming it was our last chance to film and so some there was lack of continuity where the victim was wearing glasses and we were unable to go back and film once we realised as we were editing on iMovie. this scene required the use of the pre prepared blood we had made and created a kind of poetic feel to the murder.
